foot Sore Pony

My new pony recently had his feet trimmed and since then he is finding it very uncomfortable to walk to the paddock which is 2 mins away on gravel/tarmac road. Walking on grass he is fine. The vet has seen him and said he is foot sore. What is the best thing to make him more comfortable? Shoes? Boots? Stable rest? Thank you

Could have had his feet trimmed too short? Best to just keep him comfortable until they can grow a bit by using boots or avoiding any uneven surfaces. In
