My darling boy is suffering on this concrete we have at the moment. He is turned out 24/7, but keeps having short periods of unlevelness when hacking on the road. He is by no means hoping lame, just shortening his stride a bit in walk. He is generally fine in the school (although one episode where I think he trod on a large stone meant the soft was painful also), but always seeks the grass where he can when out.
Therefore it has been suggested to me to try gel pads under his front shoes. I have texted my farrier to get them for his next shoeing, but I do not know anyone who has used them. Do they work? Does this in anyway affect the time between shoeings? I assume they are replaced with each new set of shoes.
If anyone who has used them could enlighten me I would be very grateful.
Thanks
