I have an 11.2 welsh section A Palomino mare. she is quite flat footed on the front and had front shoes up until recently (previous owner had them removed) she has recently done a fair bit of road work and has become slightly foot sore :( the last week she hasnt done much apart from a little walking in school. On checking her today i noticed her front hooves were Slightly warm she isnt lame and only shows signs of sorness when on rough ground...
She lives out with the others and has very limited grass so not over endulging the YO does put hay in but the pony dosent get a look in as the others chase her off. I am wondering if being foot sore would effect tempreature in the hooves or should i be calling the vet????

A Horse hoof will change temperature throughout the day, but heat can be a sign that something is grumbling away. Just keep an eye on her.

If the pony was recently deshod, then a lot of roadwork could have caused him to be sore, you need to build it up very slowly on newly deshod feet or you cause soreness/bruising even abscesses.

It could be that, or it could be a touch of laminitis. Eitherway, in on a deep shavings bed with hay to eat is a sensible precaution.
