For all those debating horsebox/trailer options..

mmm not sure my horses would be happy being lifted up, wonder what it feels like inside when this is done
and also think that it is too technical and bound to break at some point, a ramp is much easier!

I could use my hubby's car trailer instead and ratchet the boys legs on either side ;) i can just imagine the little one neighing "faster" and his ears and mane battering about with a big cheesey grin on his face

Horses get lifted and lowered on platforms to get onto planes with no problem. If the action is smooth rather than just dropping the whole thing two feet (!!), which it seems to be, then I don't see the problem.

Wow! That could solve all my OH's building problems and my horsey problems! 2t payload would be brilliant as well!
Yes I could see the advantage of being able to have a horsebox body and a basic cargo box for work then you could swap over, otherwise a normal conversion would seem to be cheaper and more practical and my guess would be the payload would be the unit, the box and its load would be the payload of two tonnes so most likley about 1200kg actual capacity but a clever idea all the same....

Horses would soon get used to it, look how they load them onto planes with a crane thing..
I would be wary of the mechanism failing but other than that a brilliant idea. Your own overnight stable, and a lot more useful than a plain horsebox.
I think the idea may well catch on, look how we all looked at Equitreks and said "Far too expensive!" Now every other trailer/small horsebox is one..

I think I've found a flaw...there's no ramp, right? So the horsebox bit has to be on the ground in order to unload a horse.

Most of the places I travel to (other yards, show centres, grass parking fields at shows) aren't exactly flat or even smooth in some cases. So would the box tip when it's lowered onto an uneven surface?

Or would there be damage to the underside if you unloaded the box itself onto anything less than flat concrete, drove off and popped a goods unit on instead?
