Trinny and Susanah in the horse world ... you have been called upon!!!! :D

I am in need of some new everyday saddle pads, the thin polypads i have for everday are becoming embarrassingly thread bare/faded etc. They have served me well over many years.
I prefer saddle pads to be thin AND have no straps. You are all posting links to some lovely pads but they all seem to have straps that i've looked at ... can someone find me some without? Pleaseeeeeeee :)

Not got too many ££'s but i've decided to treat myself and it's not before time as some of mine have seen better days .... soooooo fire away all you experts, any links etc would be much appreciated.

1 horse is black - wears dressage saddle
1 horse is chestnut - wears WH hunter saddle (so quite straight cut)

no need to match with bandages as both wear black brushing boots ... but i may be tempted ;)

It's the straight cut bit that's taking some thinking of - the Rambo handypads are nice but very forward cut
The only 2 I can think of are the ANKY pads and your good old polypads!

the Anky ones have no straps, and i use them for Dr, jump and GP saddles. the newer Anky Pro jump ones have straps though.
Other than those, i've never found any that don't move back badly if they haven't got straps, or at least girth loops.

Thanks for your replies. I don't mind them having the girth loops on, it's the other straps i prefer not to have on. I have cut them off some, but i thought seens as I was buying a new one or two i'd have a proper job. Anky ones do look nice, might have to splash out and buy one (only 1 though!!!). Do like the polypads but thought i would opt for something different for a change.

Found a horseware pad that looks nice (reversible black on one side, red on other but that looks quite bulky, anyone used this?

Anymore suggestions welcome...

I have one of the Horseware Rambo Pads, not ridden on it yet, so couldn't tell you how good it is at staying forwards. I wouldn't say it's much thicker than my Polypads.
They do come in three different types, the Rambo Pad, the Newmarket Rambo Pad and the thicker Rambo Pad. I think the first two are the same, just varies in colour, but obviously the other one is thicker, so careful you don't get that by mistake if you want a thinner one!

I've used these and they don't sip unless the saddle pad is too small. They are lovely hard wearing saddle cloths so I would recommend them :)

Equest do one without straps and with a gel pad incorporated, and they definitely won't slip because the underneath of the gel pad is some kind of special anti-slip rubber. They are called Pro Pad Anti-Slip but I think they will be quite expensive.

Thanks all. Horsewear Rambo Pad sounds worth a try.

Thanks lucemoose, didn't realise Decathlon sold horse products, will give one of theres without straps a whirl.

What about another Polypad? They do a "close contact" one with thin edges. Or you could just get their single layer type ones. I had one once but found it slipped like hell (literally disappeared out the back of the saddle!) so I gave up. Otherwise, why not just buy an average cheapo Cottage Craft type saddlecloth and cut off the straps?

That's interesting, it's the single layer ones i have mostly (albeit very ancient), also got some of the thicker ones and never had a problem with any of them slipping.
Good to hear of alternatives though, hence posting as i was struggling to find any beyond the polypads. I've not decided yet whether to stick with the tried and tested polypad or go for something different (do like the Rambo pad). Decisions!!! :D

Anky pads are the only ones I have found which don't slip. I LOVE them, they are so usable as they wash so well too :) :) You'd be fine with the dressage ones. I use the jump ones, which do have the girth straps :)

numed ones are great and you can wash them in the washing machine and they come out good as new. they come in all shapes and sizes and colours.

The premier equine Buster Pads Reversible are pretty good. I have a couple of these and they have stayed thick and don't move.
