For any Borzoi/Saluki fans

I love Salukis

A definite favourite, but not a breed you see very often over here

Gina, there's a dark tricolour one that hangs out near Fahan beach in Donegal, his owners must have a house up there, he is a stunner.

Nice vids, glad to hear I am not the only one who talks to my dogs like a lunatic....and what is a sasquatch when it is at home?

I've only ever seen one in NYC, and it was a very elderly dog. Even when I go out to the country, they don't seem to be all that popular over here.

I am hopelessly in love with the black and tan ones in the vid.

Despite being the proud owner of a squat little miss, I am a huge fan of Salukis and have been for some time.

They are *never* available for rescue over here, and now a rescue in CA has nine pups up for adoption. *Sigh* How I wish I lived in a house already.

Lots of skinnydog pups, playing...

Gentle Giants has been the subject of several investigations. It's "rescue" Borzoi come from a breeder in Texas who supplies them with litters. They constantly have whole litters up for adoption at a large price!

If you want a true rescue go to the NBRF (the official Borzoi rescue for the whole of the USA), http://www.nbrf.info/index.php?p=1 , or the Northern California Borzoi Rescue http://www.brnc.org/

Wow. I *knew* there had to be something fishy going on. I used to volunteer for a rescue in NYC, and a Saluki pup--ten months or so--was found wandering the streets of Queens. She was mistakenly listed as a Greyhound mix, until I had to tell them what she was; that's how rare they are over here.

That is so shocking about this so-called rescue group. I've often wondered how they police the many groups listed on Petfinder. Evidently, not so well.

Borzois are my absolutely favorite dogs. Had we not been influenced by your lovely Stella, Georgie could have a graceful, quiet companion but instead we have Tilly who as I type, is laid on her back, legs in the air, snoring !!

I went to a dog run in Tribeca a few weeks ago and a woman came in with two Borzois and an Afghan. Stella was tremendously impressed with the Borzoi boys

and followed them around everywhere. They seemed to enjoy prancing around the perimeter more than playing. Such gorgeous dogs. The Afghan was hilarious--swooshing his hair and sitting on the bench as if an extra on Baywatch.

And yes, Bostons fall into the comedy category, more than a classic one.
