Finished work early so i could have a lesson on Fly. Came home, got him looking gorgeous and he loaded beautifully, (makes a change). F****** lorry wouldn't start. Was -5 last night. Got him off, tried to jump start lorry - wasn't going anywhere. My friend brought her trailer over, Fly refused to load, two rope burns later I give up. Pretty fed up. Must end on a positive so try to load Fly again in stationary lorry. NO WAY! Oh god, get 2 yo in and load him first, Fly walks in. Take them both off, at least finished on a sort of positive but what a bloody waste of half a days leave. Totally stressed out, a case of "all dressed up and nowhere to go"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would it help it I said that you could be stuck in some windy, cold train station here, unable to get home for the weekend(or home full stop?)

Who was it who told me this week(when I had half a pig dumped into my kitchen,) to relax and have a glass of wine...

...does this help(also the weather will be nice this weekend)

...well?

Well Richard,

At the moment the Chardonnay is good, (not french), the food on the go, and the wood burner is hot. The horses are in bed and today is already a distant memory. Cheers, bon apetite and bon soir!

Look at it like this - maybe you would have been involved in a horrible accident if you had got the lorry going.
Maybe you would have had a fall if you had got to your lesson.
Maybe it was good fortune?

That did cross my mind.

yes, but had the lorry started,..you might have had the best riding of your LIFE, met a rich fellow rider(who loaned you his,) so you could follow him home with his other car(the Rolls,) watched as his lads bedded down you horse, while the maid was preparing dinner....

I COULD NOT RESIST

...have another glass on me for the torment...

Thanks RR, but I like to bed down my horse myself. Anyway, the best riding is always just out of reach, otherwise why would I carry on! Je ne pas parle farancais (as you can tell). I can never get the ne pas thing the right way round. Good riding RR, go with it!

Poor you. Have you got an isolater switch on your lorry?

Whats an isolator switch?!!

Something you really really want, and wonder how you ever lived without.

How olds your lorry?

It is a switch which either attaches to the live or earth lead from your battery and when you remove the switch it means that no power can be drained from the battery at all. So when you are parked up take the switch out, battery won't lose any power. Also a good secruity device.

They are about £25 to buy and then you'll need to get it fitted - not a big job.

Well, my lorry is not a proper horse lorry with living so I probably wouldn't need one. It is a cattle lorry really, and i guess I just don't use it enough. xx

The isolator goes on your lorry battery, not your lesiure battery. Has your lorry got a tacho?

It has but we do not use it as the lorry is for personal use only. sorry to be so "dim" about it all. My husband does the lorry "stuff"and I am quite happy to leave it to him. (although latest events leave me exasperated!)xx

You will probably find, as we did after many non starts, that the tacho is draining the battery whether the tacho is used or not!

Agree with those above - we had a battery isolator switch fitted £50 in total - sorted!!
