For or against using a market harborough?

I prefer them to either draw reins or a standing martingale, I think if used correctly like any other training aid, they can help short term to get started. Then again I am not an instructor or particularly experienced, just my opinion and having used all three with my instructors supervision.

I have used in the past, but mainly to give me confidence when hacking out of a horse who I didn't quite trust.

I guess that it shouldn't replace proper schooling and the aim should always be to have a confident well schooled horse who can cope with life without a MH.

I like them. We used one on my 17hh wb because she had developed a habit of spooking at non existent monsters and throwing her head up. It was impossible for me to stop her doing it and it was getting more regular. My trainer put her in a MH for a couple of months to break the habit. She is back in her old tack now but actually feels a lot more together and both trainer and physio commented on her muscle. She wasn't schooled at home in it though (unless it was windy)
