When your current 'rug of choice' for the weather conditions has to be changed how on Earth do you decided which one to replace it with?

Markie came in with an 'L' shaped tear, about 2" by 2", in his Rhino. The filling was exposed, so, I thought, as he has so many, I'll do the right thing, change it and get it repaired properly. Cue me dithering for about half an hour because I had waaaaay too much choice! Out of 11 fancy named turnouts, I discarded 4 as they were proper heavyweights, which left 7 mediums! All are different, so I had to get them all out! Finally settled on a Weatherbeeta Aspen high neck, I'm pretty sure it's brand new too.
I've only ever had about 4 rugs at a time before. My natural way of dealing with that sort of tear would be to get the duct tape out and get it repaired when convenient! I could have mucked out 2 stables during that dither time!

I'm very very very sad and know all the weights and neck cuts that all my rugs have so would probably know the closest one to the one that was no longer suitable and make my decision from there (I have actually started giving rugs to other liveries as it's cheaper than getting them cleaned, and found 3 brand new rugs in bags that I bought probably 3+ years ago and had forgetten about oops)

At lest you know he will never go cold!
I do have to admit I do like buying rugs and if it's an "odd" rug I can't help my self, like back when derby house were selling the cow print rug, I had to buy one made my cob look very silly but pleased me! :D

Simples.... All my medium weight turnouts are out at the moment which is 15 Horseware rugs! Then I have a HUGE stack of liners to add to them for the winter :D

All my light weights are now back into storage bags for spring time when the weather is better and pony isn't clipped out ;)

It pays to be organised haha

My horse has 3 stable rugs, 3 turnouts, 1 being a full neck, 2 coolers and a summer sheet. Yet at the moment shes wearing a duvet and one of my stable rugs. why? im not entirely sure... but atleast shes cosy right?

Duck Tape??:eek::eek:

Iron on mender!! about £2 from sewing shops - FAB stuff. Iron it on, superglue round the edges and hey presto! Waterproof too!

What a brilliant idea, I may try that as I've got some mender from doing my son' school trousers!

I should really have a proper sort through into different catagories. Avoided it so far as they are beautifully folded into bags and I'll never manage to get them as tidy ever again. A vast rug collection is wasted on me!
