For those needing HUGE rugs!

Hi,
i cant remember who posted the other week but it was about horses needing huge rugs.
Well, we have a massive mare - and she is a 7'6 rug plus and even then, they are never deep enough for her. Last winter she wore a Weatherbeeta 7'6 which did keep the rain off her back - but was like a mini skirt on her! Well, last week i ordered a Masta Extra Deep 7'6 rug for her - i've tried it on her this morning and CRIED! it is near enough perfect! The depth is AMAZING - my only

is that the neck isnt that big for her - but its workable if its on the last hole! I've taken some pics but will try and add them later.
I just wanted to say to anyone who needs a huge rug for a huge horse - the Masta Extra Deep are a def

I recommend them to anyone that needs big deep rugs, they're brilliant. Some of the stable rugs also have an extra deep cut so keep a look out for them too

Re the neck size - when I have this problem I take the rug to a saddlers & ask them to drop the top strap down an inch, this seems to work well for stable rugs though I haven't tried it on a turnout yet. MNaybe we should lobby Masta for a deep cut neck?
 
If any of the rug companies went and made extra deep rugs, especially made for the bigger build of horse (ie heavy horses) with a neck to match they'll have found a niche market. The amount of people who struggle year in year out to find a large rug amazes me.

I used to have to buy rugs with a half neck as the normal necks would just rub the coat away.

ooh yes thanks for that, only Masta and Rambo are anywhere near deep enough for Beau, will have to have a look at their extra deep range.
 
I actually spoke to a rug company last week about it - saying they would do well but its something to do with being able to buy the right quality of materials in the right width to avoid any seams on the back etc. Apparently the material companies dont really do the right size now-a-days as its all shipped in

I actually managed to get it off an ebay shop - app the rrp is 84.99 but i got it for 50 delivered

Tis very odd, with Masta, the small rugs have massive necklines, far to big for likkle ponies

I only need a 7ft which isnt hard to find, but the crop top look isnt in!
