... how do you transport your saddles when taking your horse out in the trailer?

Do you just put them straight in the boot or do you have a stand etc? I've been looking for something suitable but don't know what is best.

Hi there, I've got a long wheel based Pajero, and I have got a free standing saddle horse that I put my saddle on. I've got a first aid box and a holdall that I put my hat etc in, and put these under the rack which keep it stable. It's worked pretty well so far.

We have a Landrover Defender 90 and have a fold down saddle pole attatched to the bit behind the seats i think it's called the bulkhead.

I have a saddle mate, which is fab as it holds lots of junk too!

Think mine currently has - gloves, hats, spurs, chifney for baggage, polos, stud set, box of tissues, bottles of water, fly spray, fetlock boots and sake.

Basically anything floating about in the back of my car... granted my car looks like a mobile tack shop most of the time

Normally have 2 horses on trailer and their saddles go in standing pommels on the carpet; girths, breastplates in front, and boots and bridles behind saddles. Rider clothing etc goes on back passenger seats - that way i know what has to be taken back out for home or stables. Have grooming kit, water bukets, poo bucket etc in front of horses in trailer. Works well so far - car is OH's during week so have leave it clean when i have finished....

My trailer is a Bateson Deauville which has a double saddle rack in the front so the saddle goes on there. That leaves plenty of room in the boot for all the other things.

Derby house sell a folding rack that goes in your car and holds two saddles, think its made by Stubbs and is called saddle tramp!

I have an Ifor williams Tack pack, which sits in the left hand stall. Moved it from the front because it was a bit of a squash getting the ponio out....

I've got an Ifor Williams tack pack too, it goes in the front and I just unload it out the front ramp before I get the horse out. I get my two saddles in there plus my bridle, breastplate etc (Dad has repositioned the hooks which were ridiculously low to begin with!). Saddle cloths and girths go on top of the saddles. There is a little box in the top of the tack pack so boots and bandages go in there. I have a little plastic storage box which has grooming stuff, studs etc and that fits in the bottom. Then boot bag with hat, gloves, boots, spurs etc goes on the back seat, and jacket/body protector hang up on the handle beside the back window. We have a Nissan Navara pick up so buckets, water drum and haynet just go in the open tray.
That's for eventing; if just going somewhere local and need less stuff I don't bother with the tack pack and just put the saddle on the back seat and hang the bridle on the front seat headrest!
