When changing sides to lead from, do you need to clip onto the nearest ring or does it not matter? Not a prob in the school but I wouldn't change rings out and about for obvious reasons! I just want to make sure the aids are not confusing for the horse coming from the opposite side.

I mostly have it clipped on the ring on the side I'm leading from. If I'm leading 2 horses at same time I swap the one on the lefts leadrope onto the right ring. When my horse was younger he could be really naughty to lead & had a habit of shooting off & running across the front of you, usually striking out with front left leg as well! If I thought it was a day when he'd act up(usually if it was windy) I'd have the rope clipped onto the right ring then I could keep him straight & prevent the crossing in front of me. Prior to this I used to have to lead him in a bridle & lunge line on days when he was being silly so I'm a great fan of dually's!

Okay, sounds good. I previously used a rope halter with good results so she already knows how to lead but just incase I need to swap sides to get inbetween horse and spooky object etc I just thought I'd find out if it matters re the rings. I want to start long lining next year hence switching to the dually now.
