So I took the plunge and clipped Arlo out this evening, mane and all. I know some don’t like it but I’ve decided to keep the forelock for now as think I prefer him with it and can plait it if needed.

So what do we think? Photos aren’t great as starting to get dark. I actually think he looks super smart and didn’t instantly regret it which must be a good sign!

And sporting his brand new rug which actually fits lovely as normally struggle to find a good fit!

hehe looking smart :) I do actually quite like a forelock, especially with a blaze :) that's definitely the one thing that can change their face a lot.

Very smart, just needs the heels done and he will look like a really grown up boy, not sure about the forelock as I think it is a bit ponyish but he is yours so do whatever you like, he has changed so much since you bought him and I bet you are pleased you decided not to sell.

Im not clipping his legs out, he’s living so prefer him to have some protection, he will be clipped out fully in the spring

It is very waterproof. Bucketing it down here and both dry. I have been using it for last couple of weeks on both mine (out 24/7) and so far so good!

I have to admit, although I don't think I posted, I did think he should have his mane left on. But actually, I think being hogged (and with his forelock left on) really suits him!

Ooo he has the perfect shaped neck for a hogged mane, it really suits him. I don't clip the legs off my hogged horse either as he lives out and I don't think it's necessary as we're not doing showing.

I was worried his neck would look a bit weedy as I thought his mane always made it look bigger than it is but it actually looks just right!

He looks fabulous! He has the neck for a hog and it works so well! Love his new rug too 😊

thank you. Love the rug! We had torrential rain last night and he was lovely toasty and dry this morning, would definitely recommend, it’s a maxima so very reasonably priced!

My Maxima's a year old now, and still completely waterproof. They're really good rugs, especially for the price.
