For those who use rubber matting

not sure how long it would last with horse shoes stomping and peeing on it 24/7 tho! doesn't mention waterproof. Dont think i'd risk it. You need uber heavy duty treated rubber for horses.

looks like the stuff I buy from properjob and I use it in tack room etc but it is very light-weight almost foam like and you can cut through it easily with a Stanley knife - don't think it would stand up to the weight of a horse and any liquid would just run through gaps and pool underneath. I bought some really heavy duty mats for my field shelter - they were delivered to yard (cant remember where bought from) and are hard to lift or drag on your own - they were expensive but still look pretty new after 8 years and the horses have access to them 24/7!

At the price it is I seriously doubt if it would be suitable for stable matting. This stuff is designed for people to walk on, not the twisting & turning of half ton horses with steel shoes on. It doesn't mention the thickness of the matting or what it's made of. If it's the lightweight rubber foam stuff it won't last a day.

There is no cheap way of rubber matting your stable except buying second hand & even then it will be more costly than these mats. You get what you pay for I'm afraid. :)

Yeah we looked at this years ago but quickly realised its not strong enough. We were lucky enough to be approached by a company who supplied six or seven of us with matting reduced greatly due to slight defects and its still going strong nine years later.
