For those who work shifts; how do you make competing possible? (also in CR)

Hi guys,

after putting in a all my holidays and a hefty load of day off requests i have been left wondering how others do it?! Do you plan out what comps to go to and take days off specifically or when you have a day off do you just have a look to see whats on that day? Do you have to miss alot of events?

For hunting I have to be quick as book as many Saturdays off as I can at the beginning of the year. Otherwise I just see what's on when I'm off.

I hope to start getting out more, so will have to use more holiday or the odd sick day :0

I just plan ahead and books lots of Saturdays off! I've got every Saturday in July booked off.

Boss might moan, cos Saturdays are harder to cover cos no one wants to work them if they don't have too, but tbh it's tough, they're my holiday hours.

We get 4 days to request off every month so put all 4 Sunday's down(although not guaranteed them) beg people to swap with me if possible. If not then sometimes just have to miss out unfortunately.

I never have to work a Sunday as these are optional over time. Saturday's are a buggar to get off thou.

I usually regret entering - a dressage test in the morning followed by a 2pm-1am shift makes for a very long day!
