Have been doing ok, it's hard work pushing the barrow through the snow but otherwise all is as normal. Beds are fine, they have half a bag of shavings down each once or twice a week and we mix the wet in thoroughly then leave beds up to dry during the day and put them down at night.

Can imagine how much of a pain it must be to bag up your muck though, can you not clear a path to the muck area? It's hard work, but i imagine would be worth it rather than bagging muck.

same as Gingernut my boy is in a barn with a walk way outside his stable that we tie up in.. so getting him out of the way isnt an issue...
the much heap for me is only a short walk from the stable out of the back doors of the barn... so i have been making my way over to that a little carefull as... more than one person has fallen over emptying their wheelbarrows!

Stupid ice... you can go away now please and ask the sun to come out and play instead!

My boy is in on shavings and I stick 80% of his bed up during the day and then all down at night. Muck out morning and night normally with him helping me in his stable. He's taken to grabbing hold of the back of my breeches and lifting me up, he snuffles my hair, licks my face, steals the tools, tips the wheelbarrow over, he thinks its marvellous mummy is there for his entertainment!
Fortunatly our muck heap is easy to get too.

Im mucking out properly twice a day (poo and wee i mean). He hasnt been out of the stable for two days so its a bit tricky to get everything out when he's in there and to turn the banks so there probably a bit minging underneath. I do the best i can and will just keep putting clean straw in so he's never stood in too much of a messy bed!

I hate this weather!!!

its the gate it only opens up wide enough to squeese through, the gates are going to be raised tomorow as have cleared paths feel its the ground has raised up pushing up pathways..

my mare is in 24/7 at the mo and her straw bed is completely trashed every night i go down and i have to take out 2 barrows out on most nights

Our muck heap is at the top of a very icy steep ramp, i hate going up it every night.

Mine is having a pretty hefty skip out in the morning and about 80% of the bed up, and then a full muck out in the evening, with new straw being added in. She stands outside the stable in the evening as it has defrosted a bit! I am getting 2-3 HUGE barrows out a day at the moment

My mare's on boxrest at the moment and she's got two ponies to keep her company so keeping on top of three beds is a daily task at the moment - I do a full muck out in the morning, skip out 3/4 times during the day/evening and try to keep up to them as much as I can - I'm lucky in that they are in a barn so it's easy to move them about etc - Am I the only one who's finding it easier now that the snow's here? My path to the muck heap disappeared into a mudbath due to the rain and I was struggling to get down to the muckheap (in the field) but now I'm plain sailing through the snow!
