For those with horses on Working Livery...

I had my old mare on working livery at the yard where I worked. She was to jump no higher than 2'9 due her getting on a bit and not to be used for novices as she was a little mare-ish in her ways.

However on my days off and when I wasn't there she was ridden by anyone and evryone and jumped to much and too high. She had such a willing nature to jump and never say no.

It resulted in her being kicked off of working livery when she eventually went lame. Of course I never found out all this was going on untill it was too late.

I was worried about this, but after my mare put 6 novices on the floor in a week she soon was only used by advanced riders!

Jack was on working livery for a bit and I had no say in who got to ride him. I was lucky though because even though he could, in theory, be ridden by a novice (depending on his mood) none of them wanted to ride him because of his size (17.2hh).

He really was only used for hacking with experienced riders which suited me fine cause it kept him fit.

When I bought Tyler originally I didnt realise it but in a slightly underhanded way he was kept on workng livery. As soon as I found out, the tack came home with me and he was moved to a private yard.

I would have had no say in who rode him so didnt feel at all happy at that thought
