My trimmer can't recommend forage plus highly enough. You send a sample of grass that they analyse, they can then give a tailored recommendation for supplements for your horse and provide you with said supplements.

Sounds perfect, but...

Grass analysis is 55 pounds.
Nutritional plan is another 70 pounds.
Plus supplements.

It's not even like its my land or grass...

Do people think it's worth it?

I am hoping that saving on unnecessary/duplicated supplementation will pay me back in a short period. At least I'll know the composition of my horses' largest food source. Sent my samples off today - just hope I understand the analysis!

Yeah, that's one way of looking at it.

It is very unscientific the way most of us feed our horses - but then most do seem okay on it. But that's not to say we couldn't do better.

I think if it was my own land I'd definitely go for it - with livery time-spans aren't always so certain.

There are cheaper places to get analyses done, but the cheaper ones can use less accurate methods so you get what you pay for!

There are more options like learning how to do the feed plans yourself. PM me if you would like any more info :)
