Ford Cargo battery problem

Thanks to all who gave me advice about my broken lorry (it won't start - thought it was the starter motor)

We have now established that it IS a battery problem BUT the batteries are both charged and the connection to the alternator etc is sound and not rusty.

Could I have a faulty battery? And does anyone know roughly how much they are? Thanks

Have you tried taking them off and recharging over night? Otherwise l think you can get a heavy duty one for about £40/£50 ish

You could do with getting a hyrdrometer or a meter on your batteries to see if they are holding the charge. Just because you have put them on charge for a while does not mean that thery are ok & holding charge. Do this before anything else as this costs nothing, replacing batteries & other things is.

Thanks - we had one on them whilst we charged and tried to start it as soon as they came off so not sure that this is the problem.

If I jump started it would this prove it was the battery?

almost definately! most garages/ motor factors have battery testers which will tell you if you have a problem- I had this fault- the battery seemed to charge up ok but wouldnt start the cargo and when tested they found it was shorting between plates. the other thing well worth doing is having a battery isolater fitted as there may be a small electrical disharge on the system.

Ive just replaced the battery in my lorry, if your battery is a 12V like mine then your looking at no more then £80 to have a new one fitted (including the call out).
We are lucky we are directly opposite a main battery retailer and they came out and checked my battery, brought the new one over the road and fitted it.

I wouldnt have a clue how much it would cost if youve got a 24V battery
