My 1988 Ford Cargo lorry needs some work doing on the brakes and exhaust, but because of its age we are struggling to find parts for it, and those that we can find are hugely expensive! Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of any reasonable parts suppliers online/mail order?

The garage that looked at the lorry have quoted on Ford main-dealer supplied parts.. (eek!)

Also, does anyone know of any good (reasonably priced!) mechanics who will work on a 'large vehicle' in the East Sussex area? Having only upgraded from a trailer last year, this is my first experience of a lorry needing work - and I think taking it to a large commercial garage might not be making the most financial sense...

Thank you!

Also not sure where in East sussex you are but Sam Drury and his partner look after my 7.5t 'B' reg Bedford (she is like me old but reliable!!) and they are great. The are based near Etchingham, if you would like their contact details please PM and I will pass them on.

I had an A reg Cargo - a small hunter box in teak attached. I loved my lorry - but it got too much to maintain and I couldn't get parts so it was time to go to the lorry heaven.

My aged ford cargo was serviced and had some work done at a firm called Mick Gould Haulage, they are based at Flimwell.
Pricey but did a good job.
