Hi

Does anyone have a Ford Iveco 3.5T Horsebox ?

What do they think to it ? Are all of them upside down gear boxes
where reverse is far left & forward, and first is far left an down, so on ?

Have also heard they can be quite shaky, is this true with them ?

All info appreciated

Shaky??????????????????????????????????? no way hose
mine is a 1997 ford iveco 7.5 tons. I love it lovely to drive, only thing i am saving for a newer one. But the ivecos give a lovely drive to driver and smooth ride for horses. So smooth a wine glass wont fall over :D

To explain further my ford had to drive to Shrewsbury to help hubby clear his later dads house out .

On the way back we had a blow out at 60 miles an hour. It was the drivers side - ie under me who was driving, i held the wheel firm and steered to hard shoulder.
road rescued towed the lorry off the motorway and jacked it up - replaced the Tyre and we eventually got on the way again. Finishing our journey finally , we got home opened the ramp and partitions and started to unload, the first thing out was a display cabinet, , we opened the door to make it easier to hold it and:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

There was a wine glass standing bolt upright , never moved the whole journey down south including the blow out - and jacking up.

I think well if that glass stood up through all that , my horses should have a good ride.:D

does that help??

the best thing is if you test drive one have someone drive it and you stand in back as a horse would do and dont hold on that way it should help you.

Thank Leviathan

Yes I did I drove down road an thought it was ok, slight wobble, but garage said
it needed 3 new tyres anyway so it was just from that & they gonna do them.
So I had my partner drive it an got in the back, not a single movement, but damn noisy in the back of em isnt it, never realised just how noisy, amazing to think a horse ever goes in them with all that noise.
Do think it will be an art getting used to the upside down gear box !!!!

Yea mine is only the little 3.5T one.
Took it back to garage today as wasn't happy about the wobble,
they drove it & popped it up on ramp, said it needed 3 new tyres
putting on it, doing free of charge as only had it a day so thats
good.
Springs go often on them ?
Heard the brake pipes corrode quickly on the 3.5T Ford Iveco too,
but dont think thats a huge job or cost either.
