This is a bit long... My mare did her near fore suspensory last year, had box rest etc, came sound and started work again. For the last few weeks she hasn't been staying sound and the ligament was up and down like a yo-yo. Took her to vets today to do a scan on the leg to see what the story was. Different vet on duty than usual and he started from scratch. Upshot was she failed flexion on 3 legs (handy when you've only got 4) and got progressively more lame as she was lunged. Only problem is, the leg she was lame the most on was the off fore... We thought initially that she had done the high suspensory on that leg but 1 nerve block later and she was even more lame.... Am at wits end with this. She is now 3/5ths lame on the off fore and obviously we can't do any more blocks etc till that eases off. Anyone suffered from a similar problem? The lameness doesn't appear to be in the foot or high up - it's somewhere between the knee and fetlock but apart from the swelling in the suspensory area there is no other heat or swelling. Shoes are fine too. I'm at a loss and so is the vet, who wants to have her back in again when she's more sound to do various blocks from the foot up to try and isolate the seat of the lameness. Need a big glass of wine now (and anyone who reads this far and answers deserves one too...)
