I was just looking to see if anyone had commented on that. It's a bit naff on their behalf given the situation. It's a £250 loss for all campers & Eland not willing to compromise, so it seems.
some seem to have had a refund today, what a ridiculous situation.

Royal welsh doesn't seem to have much in the way of mitigations for horses or livestock even though their forecast temps keep getting higher, still not permitted to use your own fans in the sheep sheds (noting the stock has to stay there for the duration of the show, and those sheds are packed- thought might be less so if people don't go).
A little more for humans, no jackets for equestrians but still wear your white coat if you're showing stock, but they've got 6(?) water refill sations for visitors. . .
Not sure what the kings troop are planning.

I've been once it was an amazing show and I've love to go again but it was heaving compared to other shows I'd been to.

KT will probably be as bare as possible under those tunics. There is no summer dress for that uniform. Poor sods.

I meant the horses lol but yes them too! It's a lot of exertion pulling the guns. Not sure if they are on more than once a day.
I saw it earlier it was 2004 (I think, might have ben 2014 now Im thinking about it) that the mare died after winning.

I had plans this weekend and adopted a wait and see approach. Weather yesterday was fine at Kelsall. Really lovely conditions. I am glad they went ahead. Today its about 23 degrees roiund here with a breeze and quite overcast. The weather is totally unremarkable so people have catrred on as usua; round me, thouigh I'm giving Lottie the day off anywat as she worked so hard yesterday. Tomorrow and Tuesday will be awful. Amber and Felix have been fetched in already and will stay in now till Wednesday.

Katie was at Somerford yesterday and was meant to be there again today but lots of areas cancelled in advance so she is no longer needed. But I see no reason why events at Somerfors could not have happened today? Unless it's lot hotter there than here but we are only 35 minutes away. Anyone more local know how it is?

There has been a lot of FB shaming of people who are out and about. My girls have even had negative comments for walking Daisy! In shady woods with a river to splash in!!

Guess the only thing in their favour if that they're fit? There used to be a short/smaller display and an extended one so fingers crossed all ok.

Eland I've only seen comments on the main post I could find about it from someone saying well done eland I've got my refund (I thought well done was a bit much).
Ah the OP has confirmed now too.
'I have received email from the venue, they have now decided that they will refund anybody that feels that the are not able to or do not wish to attend!! Thank you Eland Lodge Equestrian that is absolutely the right decision! For anybody else that are still attending on those days, please take care of your fur babies! It’s going to be hot! And please ensure guys that you take all of the necessary protocols to keep you all safe!!! #keepsafe xx '

I was going to do another bike ride today, as max temp much the same as what it was when I did last weekends one but it's got hotter a lot quicker here today. Last week it was pretty cool until lunchtime, today it was pretty unbearable by 9.30 so pleased I'd opted to cycle to the yard and back instead

I'm not entirely convinced by digital piggy thermometer that I've left in the garden and is currently on 43.5 though. .

Forecast for RW is 35C personally I don't think a rosette is worth taking an animal. A lot of show horses are overweight which is an additional risk. I wonder of people will withdraw.

The RSPCA have issued a statement about RW

@Ambers Echo. Was Katie due to be volunteering or competing? Somerford was run today, but was all done by around 2, and I think it was originally expected to end around 5. It was quite a nice day there in the end, bit of a breeze in the morning.

Dauntsey now cancelled for Tuesday/trying to reschedule.

Anyone seen any riding schools cancel lessons yet?

Before the weekend, the 2 schools I use both cancelled lessons for Tuesday, as did the other local school. All are closed on Mondays anyway. One of the schools also cancelled all lessons from 1pm sunday, and asked people to keep an eye on social media in case they had to cancel sunday am.
