My 17-yr old TB gelding, former racehorse, has this winter developed a bony lump on his forehead, between his eyes, slightly to the offside. Had been hidden by an overgrown forelock. It is not at all sensitive, and does not seem to bother him at all. There is no known trauma. Vet has examined & confirmed that it is bone but does not seem to be an issue. Anyone else come across this?

Unicorn? :D

Sounds like he has clouted himself somehow. My former racehorse collided with a tree. There was nothing to see, once all the green mossy stuff was washed off, but he got a fair-sized lump from a suture fracture due to the impact.

I have seen two horses with big lumps between the eyes, both caused by trauma. One of them was blind in one eye as a result - I think it was caused by a kick.

Yes. My TB has one of these a few years ago. It was a lump about the diameter of a penny. It seemingly popped up out of nowhere and stayed around 2 months in all. Although I didn't connect it at the time he did have a slightly mucky nostril a few days before the lump appeared suggesting a whack of some description. It didn't bother him at all. Vet looked at it after a few weeks as it hadnt changed in any way. He just suggested x-ray or wait as it wasn't causing any bother. I waited and eventually it just went away on its own almost as fast as it popped up leaving no lasting damage.

Happened my gelding when he was 4, whacked his head off a metal strut holding up his stable (its huge and a bit out of the way so absolutely no idea how he managed it) and ended up with a big lump between his eyes.
Took him to horsey hospital and he got xrayed and was deemed in pain, but fine, and given some painkillers and anti inflams to help him. They did say that he must have been a bit erratic because of it, but that was no difference as he was erratic anyway due to his breeding!

He got a couple of weeks rest, and after three months it went down again. It was the funniest looking thing for a while though.

He's nearly 11 now and not a bother on him. and no lump!

Just wondered if the lump eventually disappeared as my TB has same thing.
