A friend has given her medium level dressage 6 months off work due to reoccurring lameness in off fore He was diagnosed at that time as having something wrong around the sesamoid. She has walked him out now for a few weeks and he seems fine. Today, because it was extremely foggy, she took him into the sandschool and after walking round for some time tried a trot. On that rein he is still lame. She is so dejected today. He is a lovely big warmblood and she is a superb rider. I wish I could help. Does anyone know about stem cell therapy.Might this help? Your views will be very welcome. He is only 7 after all.

It depends entirely on what he was diagnosed with. I'm assuming the vet made a more definite diagnosis than "something wrong around the sesamoid"? And which sesamoid(s)?

Before concidering any form of treatment your friend needs to find out precicely what is wrong. Then she can decide the best course of action.

Lots of things go wrong with big horses... I know I have heavies! Some are fixable, some not. They are only just done growing at 7.

Let us know what the exact problem is and we might know of a horse who has had similar.
