Hi,
Not been a lot of comp reports about so I thought I would share :D

Went off to Forest edge last Friday with my mare who I have had a couple of issues with. We now jump in a snaffle, no spurs and with the help from a new trainer, and a friend who is natural healer, we have a very happy horse and rider combo :D

Entered 1.05 for a play round and we were double clear but didn't chase the time and then went for the 1.15 speed class. Really pleased with her - again clear and did one of two optional tight turns. left the big boys to do the tight turn to the last and so didn't get placed but really pleased (think i was 7th overall)

Off to Easton college this Sunday for the 1.10 and 1.20 then hope to get back to 1.20-1.30 classes once I am sure we are both happy again.
Sorry i typed a really witty report but managed to delete so this is all you have:) Oh and no videos as husband wasn't around and the event pics aren't up for my classes

But I do need peoples help with a jacket query to go with my new hat, seen here:

http://www.neilfortescue.com/equestrian/thejays/thejays_20oct12_class7.html

Needs not to be wool as my current jacket is getting ripped due to jumping bigger courses and needs to give more - either that or I do weird stuff with my arms

Was thinking Spooks Mika blue (the hat is grey but looks blue against a blue jacket) but might be too old for this one
Or Pikeur Skarlett in grey??

Any other ideas??

Thanks

I shivered just thinking of you this weekend! Sounds like a very successful outing though, so worth the cold :D

Was going to say if you're a FE/ Easton College regular we might see you about, but looking at the terrifying heights you jump we definitely won't be!!

Ive seen the Spooks here in the flesh and they have that lycra shine like certain tights have? Not a matt effect at all which is a same as they look lush in the pics.

Thanks for your feedback peeps. Think it will be Pikeur then as Spooks jacket may look like I'm trying to look 21 again :p

Lolo, I was shivering but amazing how you warm-up after a good round :D.
And yes I'm a regular to both, but only during the winter as try to compete at county shows over the spring and summer then they have a little holiday.

I'll let you all know how I get on with buying the Pikeur. Exciting times :D

Well done on your result! If you don't mind me asking what problems you were having with your horse? I had a healer / behaviourist out on Monday to my mare who is tricky and i have a lot of work to do with her so I am pleased to hear that you have had some success!

Supanova, I don't mind saying at all. She started napping. Not any particular place int the arena but would start the course then come to a stand still and not move. I was horrified as never had a nappy horse before. It was down to competition anxiety and other issues such as not happy with the bit, so we changed everything and she is happy as larry and far more forgiving. She was never nasty but on one occasion she went straight up and at 17.2hh that was high. I treat my horses as kings and queens but it is meant to be fun, so I wasn't having that!. But knew it was totally out of character and wanted to know what the hell was happening. We are now through it and better than ever. Happy days!!!:D

Good luck and happy to pass on my ladies details if you need them. The one thing I always say to people though is if you do go down that route you have to be open to hearing things you might not like, about your relationship with your horse or what you do or how you ride. But if you do as you've always done then you get what you've always got! I've found it nothing but helpful and any issue resolved quickly and happily :)

Thanks Jacko - my mare is similiar has competition anxiety but also is pretty much in a constant state of hyperalertness so that she is always looking for something to attack her. The lady i have had believes it all stems from separation anxiety and she gets anxious about being ridden because of being separated from her friends. I am therefore having to do some work to really take away the anxiety. Spending a lot of time bonding with her rather than riding and going right back to just putting a tea towel on her back and then taking it off - think its going to be quite a long haul but i really need to make some changes so will have to be patient and take it 1 day at a time!

Really pleased to hear you've had such success though - makes me want to keep going!

I'm really impatient as a person Supanova and because I work full time and have two horses in competition I try my hardest to be competitive as an amateur against professionals and so demand so much from myself and the horses. That is my issue and she made that very clear :o. I am trying really hard to get the fun back as the pressure is silly as it is not my livelihood. I beat myself up up if i do something wrong and the horses are really sensitive to this. No-one likes a misery!

It does take time but the journey should be enjoyable too. I don't enjoy going back to 1.05 and 1.15 classes but do in a strange way as no pressure.
I wish you the best of luck. Mares can be difficult but so rewarding too. Let me know how you are doing :)

Thanks Jacko - you sound exactly like me. Work full time, 2 horses, very competitive, demand a great deal, beat myself up for every mistake!! Will keep you updated. Just makes me feel so much better that someone else has been through something similar and it has worked for them!
