Forgot just how wonderful this is....

WOW!!!!
Normally see the SJ at Olympia and have thought about going on a different day for the dressage for a change. Definitely made up my mind now. What can you say- Speechless!
Thanks for giving me the nudge.

Oo back in the days before stressage horses were complete freaks!! Doesn't it look nicer with a horse which moves 'normally'

I'm not anti modern dressage at all and I do like watching Toto but I preferred it when they still looked like horses!

Ha,ha, Stressage - like it. Well - it could be said that they always were - Dutch Courage was given his name because he stood on the top of the box ramp when first delivered and roared - Dutch Courage ( a stiff drink ) would be needed before attempting to ride him.

It is a confo things as other poster says, big Hanovarian, Westfalians etc., just look the part without trying - Tortillas looks like a sprinter and I'd give most of them a Vet's ticket on the trot up.

I watched many an International Dressage personality work at Fulmer International while Dr Reiner was at the top and many of their horses were nutjobs, oated to the eyeballs with the idea of directing all that pent up energy into the tests - provided a good few laughs and not a few insights to the celebs horsemanship they wouldn't want shown in public - a long time before miniature video cameras!

I'd forgotten just how long Dr Reiner rode - two holes longer than Edward I think - and he doesn't move them as much; however; the good Dr's hands are more than a little noisey!

Reiner Klimke and Ahlerich - totally amazing, thank you for sharing!

I find Toto often has poor over-tracking in extended walk, but doesn't get lower marks to reflect it. And I definitely don't think the front end extravagence is seen in his hinds... but I'm still fixated when I watch him!

Sorry, but I just don't see it. The extravagant foreleg action is not mirrored behind. Maybe this is a confo thing, what do I know? But if my horse trotted like this I'd be having the back lady out.

This, on the other hand, is genius: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKbqokuTzh8

and the lap of honour has to be seen to be believed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbLXpW5-DG0&feature=related

thank you for sharing those... OH's first comment was "it looks like a normal horse!"

Amazing! Note to self: do not show to OH, caused argument on why people want horses to do such things, it's just unnatural and he doesn't see the point. Bit like football then...
