Hi there, any views or experiences of the above supplement?

I'm trying in vain with my farrier and vet to get my old 16.1 boy sound. Briefly he had an attack of lami when he was 5 he's 18 now (he's never had an attack since then by the way) and has gone lame again with what the vet thinks (has done xrays) is changes to his pedal bone, he's on heart bars which brought him sound on level smooth ground, we had the farrier on Monday to do him again after having them on for 5 weeks, he was initially fine after farrier dressed his feet, adjusted and put his shoes back on but has now gone very pottery and slightly lame. Any help or advice you can give me would be appreciated, he's my life bless him and i'm feeling very low and defeated at the moment.

Thanks, luv Jayne xx

I bought some Formula 4 Feet for my boy after people on here recommended it. It is going well and I'm starting to notice a difference.

HOWEVER, Forumla 4 Feet (and most other similar hoof supplements) aim to create a good strong growth of the hoof, they will not have any impact on your horse's bones/structure and magically make him sound again if it is the pedal bone. I'm sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear but I don't think something like F4F will have any effect with your horse. Good luck and I hope the vet can sort out the problem v soon.

My farrier told me to put 2 of ours on it 6 weeks ago- he is due tomorrow so whilst its early days, he may be able to see any difference. It must have a strong taste as they will both leave it unless mixed in well. Much cheaper than Farriers Formula.

Great stuff for improving the hoof quality. I use it on my TB who previously had barely anything to nail into to, and it's made a huge difference. However, as Saskia said it will not help with the balance of the foot nor with any lameness as such. Sorry.

As saskia says it won't hlep with any changes in the bone etc. What it will do is provide a good, strong hoof capsule. I have tried them all with my horse's rubbish feet and formula 4 feet is the only one that works. Goo dluck with your boy.

PS: It has apple flavouring on it. i am surprised they don't like it!

Hi everyone,

Thanks loads for your replies. Its ok I didnt think it would miraculously do anything for the pedal bone or the laminitis or anything like that, I just wondered about putting him on it to improve the actual hoof and maybe slightly quicken its growth.

I think i'm maybe expecting too much too soon, its a very long story but when he was young the vet and farrier were unsure whether it was actually lami or nitrogen poisoning and given the fact that hes had no other lami or lami related problems since then (hes nearly 19 now), I thought it mustnt have been lami then when he was xrayed recently because of lameness the vet found lami type symptoms and just said its good news that its lami and nothing more serious!!!!!!, put him in heart bars and he should eventually come sound!

Thank anyway for your advice, its much appreciated as usual.

Luv Jayne xx
