Hiya,

I've just started my mare on F4F. I've started with one egg cupfull in each feed. But she seems full of wind! She has suffered in the past with colic a few times, so I'm always very carefull when introducing something new. She is about 500kg, and needs about 6 egg cups full of F4F for her weight.

Has anybody had similar problems with F4F?

Thanks to anyone who replies.

Shanny

Maybe not the same but I found most hoof supplements, F4F included, made my cribber crib much more & his stomach never seemed quite settled on them.

At the risk of sounding like I'm on commission (I'm not, honest!) the things I've found that produced a dramatic improvement in his feet without upsetting his stomach are Top Spec Antilam & Top Spec Comprehensive balancer.

I've used it for a couple of years without any problems and I did see a dramatic improvement in their hooves but since I have 8 on it I changed to black sunflower seeds and I honestly think they have done much the same job - and the horses' coats are really shiny. It may be coincidence but one horse couldn't go between farrier visits without at least one or sometimes 2 callouts for loose shoes when he was on the F4F but since I've gone onto seeds we've gone 16 weeks without a callout even in this mud....don't know what it means but I'm not complaining!
