I have budgeted for about 37 weeks of haylage feeding this winter/spring - hopefully my two will be out 24/7 in East Anglia.

How much do the rest of you budget for and when do you generally start/stop feeding forage?

Hello. I started at the end of September last year and stopped at the end of April. But when i moved my horses in early December and they had about 50 acres to run in they didn't touch any haylage until Jan when they were put into three acre paddock. Friend who has cob type horses and lots of grazing only feeds hers when there is snow on the ground and they get too fat even in winter. What i am saying in long roundabout way is it will probabaly depend on the amount of grazing you have and the type of horses. Don't know if thats any help to you.
