Ok, went to two different tack shops yesterday to try yet some more saddles. Went to Milners to arrange a saddler to come out but frankly, I didn't bother as all the saddles they had in the shop (including second had) were WAY WAY above what I can afford to pay.
I went to another and got 5 saddles to try and surprise, surprise, they all slide forward.
I did look into the saddlers mentioned in a previous thread but to be honest, many of them are far away and I can't afford to pay call out fees for long distance travel if everything is going to slide forward and many of them stock the same brands as I've already tried anyways.
I was going to have my local good saddler come out and check any saddle I found that didn't slide forward.
So far I've tried, Barnsbys, various Jeffries models, Passier, Saddle Company, Wintec/Bates, GFS, Champion Saddles, a Tower Farm saddle and a few other lesser known brands.
The only one that doesn't slide forward is an Albion but I have to be realistic and I really can't afford to buy one, even 2nd hand and don't want to wait months to ride my horse to save up for one!
The saddler at Tower Farms recommended a curved anatomical girth as these can help horses with long withers and forward girth grooves keep the saddle in place (Hattie is a saddle fitter's nightmare as she is both long withered AND forward girth grooved).
I'd like to try one but I can't afford to spend money if they aren't going to work and don't know anyone who has one to try.
Has anyone had any experience with one? Do they actually work?
Also, is there anyone here in the Wigston & Oadby/Countesthorpe/Blaby/Whetstone/Enderby area that would be kind enough to loan me one to try out these five saddles this week before I have to bring them back to the shop?
A 48" or 50" one fits Hattie.
All the saddles I brought home fit her perfectly in the withers, they have nice straight panesl for her back and fit her perfectly in the shoulders but they just end up sliding forward to wanted to try them with one of these anatomical girths.
