Some of you may remember that a few weeks ago now, I posted about the stud where I work, needing a foster mare.
The good news is that - Spottysport on here, brought down the wonderful Echo a couple of weeks ago and she has successfully fostered the foal
Echo is a charming Chestnut Appaloosa and she and the foal just adore one another! The other mares - snobby TB's - are slowly getting used to Echo's spots, but Echo doesn't seem to care. Spottysport brought Echo all the way down to Newmarket from Glasgow - I think she deserves a medal!!
Now for the bad news. The filly foal's Dam had coliced the day after foaling and had to go for surgery in the early hours of themorning. Unfortunately, the stress of it all brought on an attack of BAD laminitis (I have NO idea if that is spelt correctly??) and the mare came extrememly close to foundering. Obviously she was not going to be able to raise this foal, even if she was to survive. Well, she was doing really well, but suddenly went down hill in the last few days and her plight was ended yesterday
RIP Mots, one of the prettiest horses I have ever seen!
