My boy is nearly a year In May.
I pretty sure I’ve found roundworm, they are like noodles longer than 6CM.
I moved my youngster in December to a new stud for reasons acceptable and he had a 0 egg count then, I know some you can only trace by bloods but I’m sure roundworm is egg count and was 0.
now April there is poop in the paddocks with worms, red and round (I’m sure they are)
My boy is and has been on the small side due to having EHV and phumonia and that was him with 0 worm egg count but he’s still poor and doesn’t look like he’s gained much. Now I’ve seen these worms I’m worried about his weight and condition.
He’s eating and comes over to me and seems ok in that respect.
He’s been wormed by the yard owner yesterday as part of a programme with the other youngsters.
I haven’t actually seen if this is his poo or the other but I’m sure it’s likely he has worms.
I’m worried about the round worms and the weight

Has anyone had these round worms in their youngsters as I know it’s common.
I’ve got the vet out soon to Investigate weight and stuff

You are supposed to worm youngsters more often so best to get advice from your vet
The first vet said to hold off because of the resistance. If we worm often we risk the worms not being killed off and the drugs becoming less effective.
But then on the flip side with youngsters being more at risk and their immune systems that’s why I’m getting vet out as not taking any chances.

Thanks :)
