Does anyone on here use this?
My mare has been on this for a few years and since moving I have now asked my vet for some more, but the vet I use now is not at all familiar with it. If you use it, where do you get yours from? Or is there any alternative product available?

Thanks

Hi,
I used to use this for years but last year when I tried to order it, the vet had difficulty getting it. Apparently the licencing has been made more difficult or something and it's now quite hard to get hold of. As I needed to find something else, I had pony tested for EMS and Cushings and it turns out he has mild Cushings.

To cut a long story short, after a lond drawn out bad experience with Prascend, he's now on Vitex 4 Equids and Global Herbs Laminitis Prone. I suppose it depends on the cause of the laminitis as to what alternative products there are. Sorry I can't be more help! Hope you find something.

It nearly killed my horse and has done so on several occasions to others, including horses at Bomac in the testing labs.

Mine had been on it a week when he developed severe runs. Vet came hourly to administer intravenous fluids. Mine survived but another affected that week didn't. The vets comment about Founderguard was not repeatable.

When I contacted Bomac they admitted they had some die when on it.

The stud I had been working at had similar problems with a few of the yearlings that were on it.

I'm glad they've made it harder to get as it is quite a dangerous supplement. It works by killing off some of the bacteria found in the gut - unfortunately for some horses it kills too much and leaves them very sick.
