Anyone been/going? Will see you if you are going to the Melbourne Hall as i will either be riding my first hunt on a hireling or just visiting the meet. Is it a fast/slow hunt?
I will be going, this is my first season with the Four Shires and they have turned out to be one of the best, the people are all very friendly and everything is well organized.
The hunt moves very quickly and for quiet long runs, as is common with Bloodhounds but as they have two fields it's not a problem because you can move between the two fields as and when you feel comfortable, there are also a few small jumps you can pop in the second field if you wish.
The new Field Master has made a great deal of difference and ensures that all levels are catered for with plenty of sport for those up for it.
I go to watch the four shires every week, would love to go out with them but im just not brave enough.
Like Larkwood says they have two fields for you to choose from and from what i can see while following, they wait for everyone to catch up rather than just going on.
They are very friendly even to us without horses on the day.
I've been once, not sure where it was now but somewhere in the peeks. We were late.... so late we found them at half way port stop and they only charged us half price!
We had a great day!!! By the time we caught up there were only about 6 serious jumpers, it was fab!! There were plenty of other people who wearn't jumping though. Everyone was really nice.
Thy were my one and only time I went hunting - I hadn't been before and neither had the neddy. They were fantastic - really helpful. I stayed with the none jumping field and had a fantastic time. I keep meaning to go again when they are down my way.
Their meet card is on the website, and you can even pay on line with Paypal , it couldn't be easier so no more excuses, but you better get going the season finishes at the end of March :-(
