Our pet sow produced 12 piglets this evening.
OH just rang to say he can see Mr fox on the bank of the yard. (he's a regular) Do you think he could cause a problem to the piglets?
I'm sure this sounds a bit funny but, the sow is kept away from where we live and wer'e concerned about precautions.

i would be a bit concerned...as she's a pet pig she won't be as volatile as sows can be and may not be able to defend her babies!! if he has a shotgun might be worth letting off a few warning rounds...then again maybe she will be well able to defend them...its hard to know. how big is she?

They are very protetive are sows so I wouldn't overly worry but anything you can do to lessen the worry they do so.

To update- it appears we may have lost two to the nasty Mr fox. Apparently 14 were counted by one of our guys yesterday.
OH found one dead with a bite mark and thought the sow had got it. Then we found one near the bank that had just been left there???
We have closed off the sow completely now so hopefully won't be a repeat performance.
Thank you to amage, without your advise we may have lost more!!
Just love those furry, fluffy, cute little foxes!!!
