So it's been my 4yo's first ever event today! Was quite a chilled morning because Eland is just up the road and I had nice afternoon times. Was entered in the 70 and nothing looked too difficult but you just never know how it's gonna go do you with a baby who hasn't done anything!

I posted about being worried about the dressage and cantering on grass.. turns out I had something else to worry about because I learnt the wrong freaking test!!! And didn't realise until i had got pipped twice for doing it wrong!!! Eeeaakk!!!! So had to get my none horsey husband to come and call the new test which he did all wrong bless him. But we managed! But was a bit stressful. :) Turns out i needn't have worried about her cantering because she actually did pretty good! not amazing and a bit unbalanced but she cantered where she needed to canter and on the right leg so i I was pleased with that. We got 35.5 but 6 marks deducted for error of course so it was really 32.5 - which I'm trilled with!! Better than i normally get with my grown up horses! :) Don't have a vid because camera man was calling the test!

SJ she was great. Warmed up lovely and jumped really nice just having the last fence down.

Onto XC, she warmed up really nicely again and set off well over the first few fences which were some of the harder ones on the course, did the water, little corner, little skinny, steps up, steps down all no problem to go clear! :) :) I tried to hurry up but we got a bunch of time faults, there's quite a steep downhill but at the beginning and some very uneven bits and she's just not really balanced enough so we had to trot some bit. But we can work on that as she gets older. I'm just so pleased how willing she is!

So super super pleased! Couldn't really have gone any better. :) :) But must learn the right test next time lol.

Plan now is to leave the jumping for a bit and work on flatwork. So a bit boring but I think it will do her good. Really excited for the future. :)

Sounds like a great day out!

Shame about the test but clear XC surely makes up for that!

Well done - do you have any other plans?

She was really good in the dressage so that's the main thing. Even if jockey is an idiot!

Not really got many plans now. I'm 12 weeks pregnant so we've kind of been hurrying to get ready for this event with the plan to stop jumping afterwards. I want to get her really in front of the leg and going really well on the flat so I think it will be a good opportunity for that. Then she will have the winter off while I'm fat and then I can hopefully bring her back into work in March and not have forgotten any of the things she's learned! Hoping to do some BE with her next year (with new born and toddler tagging along.. That should be fun!)

Very well done you! Sounds like it went excellently, excluding the dr hiccup, but the horse didn't notice ;) so her performance was more in line with the lower marks ;) congrats on your great result and also your pregnancy!

Exactly! She doesn't know her rider is an idiot. I am quite impressed that we managed to get through the test with zero preparation though! I didn't even have time to read it because I was at the end of the section.😟

Thanks for the congrats! I want to do more than events now but it's probably not the best idea.

Well done! I was fence judging the penultimate fence, and I saw quite a few having problems at the first three - so you did especially well :)

Great outcome for a first event. Dont kick yourself too much about the test. You aren't the first and you wont be the last.
Some years ago during my eventing phase I was grooming for friend, asked her what test she was doing. Noticed as she was warming up that it wasn't the test she had said. She had about 2 minutes to learn the correct one. It happens more than you might suspect. ;)
