Cleverly managed to fracture my collar-bone just over a week ago, horse did one of his rather spectacular rears, only this time managed to fall over backwards! i went off side ways and landed right on my shoulder.

Just wondered if anyone else done their clavicle and how long it took before you were back in the saddle. Doctor says 6-8 weeks but i dont think so! The timing was brillant, right in the middle of the season with RC team competitions in next three weeks!

I broke (as in snapped) my left one years ago, schooling on a Monday night, I went to RC show with my pony on the following Sunday and jumped in 4 classes! But I was in agony the next day. I would give it two weeks of rest and then just gentle riding (not on something that is a nutter). I know it may sound daft but I drank a pint of milk everyday for 3 weeks to boost my calcium intake. I still have a fab triangular lump in my left shoulder now!

I snapped my collarbone back in october - a whole 8 weeks off riding, I really would wait for it to heal properly otherwise you'll have a whole host of problems! I went back too early and have ligament damage - get well soon!

Smashed mine last August. VERY painful. Doc said not to ride for 8 weeks but I got on after 5 but OH insisted I wore my BP. It has healed completely despite overlapping and I have a nice bony lump to show for it

Hope your not in too much pain - after a couple of weeks it really does fade.

I broke mine whilst attempting to jump some haylage bales (horse hit them with his front legs and sumersaulted

). I had it plated and was hacking out one handed a week later, and hunting within a month. For some stupid reason I decided to clear out a year's worth of deep litter from one of my stables a week after the op and had I not done that I think I could have ridden properly sooner.

depends how it broke and how it heals. I did mine a few years ago and probably started riding within 2 weeks but it has caused it to not heal brilliantly and now i get shoulder probs as a result of that. Also because it didn't heal flat my body protector bangs on it when i go XC and can make it sore. Although it seems awful now, give it the best chance to heal properly so you get a better result in the end.

I broke mine into 3 bits and it nearly came thru the skin. I had off probably 3 months and a year later it still hurt.
