Some of you may have seen photo's I put up before of my horse who was kicked in the field and ended up with a fractured leg. Just thought I'd share our progress so far.
November - at the vets. He spent 10 weeks cross tied wearing a huge Robert Jones bandage and was a poorly boy.
January - he got infected pressure sores from the bandages, so the vets had to try a long splint instead. He was too uncomfortable in that so on New Years Eve they had to take all bandages / support off and just hope for the best.
Feb - he fought off the infections and this is the day the took him off the cross ties. A week later we brought him home
April - he was finally allowed out in a teeny paddock (12ft x 12ft) - he spent 10 more weeks in there, with us gradually expanding it.
June - Finally allowed out in a normal field
Sunday - a day I never thought I would see. I finally got to ride my beautiful boy again. It will be a very slow recovery - we just walked for 5 minutes, but it felt wonderful.
