I just wanted to know if anyone thought that this was normal :-
Our mare fractured her splint bone in 5 places and it was detached from the bottom of the cannon bone. This happened in October - we have had the vet our and after initial x-rays we have gone down the path of compression bandaging for a cure. Now after another set of xrays in the middle of December where it appears that the fractures have healed and the bone is almost reformed at the bottom to the cannon bone we have been told that we can stop the bandaging -
Now the question is - the leg (where it was bandaged) has swollen a bit - not a huge amount but a bit - the horse does not react to it being prodded or poked, it has a little bit of heat but no more than other legs when the stable bandages are taken off.
Is this normal in a horse that has had its leg bandaged for nearly 12 weeks or should I call the vet out earlier than we had arranged?
