Firstly, I haven't ridden in a saddle for a long time because of Jack being on holiday, getting fat, and then not fitting in it so I do apologize for my awful position. :o

Dad very kindly offered to come and take some photos for me tonight (he was hoping to get me falling off, but luckily no such luck ;))
Anyway, this shocker came out:

It shouldn't even be possible for my ankle to bend that way!:mad: I did some experimenting, and found that if I take away my stirrups it behaves completely normally again, as does it when I ride bareback, but I can't ride like that forever.

Any suggestions?

Back to normality without stirrups :p

OK that is freaky - are you sure you're not winding us up by taking your foot up and twisting the boot? Otherwise there's some seriously hyper mobile joints going on there - I can only get mine to 45 degrees and I always freak out physios.

Is Jack quite lazy? Only thing I can think of from looking at the first photo is that you're used to having to kick on quite a lot and are have developed a tendency to bend your ankles like that. Have you tried using a little pair of spurs on him, just small rounded ones? They might encourage you to keep your ankles in a straighter position. You do have a lovely bareback position though!

oh god, my legs and ankles can go all over - it's mainly in my ankles though. I tend to trip up a lot walking, lol. Did you feel your leg twist round like that, did it hurt at all ?? I don't notice when I do weird things ;)

Thanks :D He can be a bit behind the leg but generally when he's ridden in the field he's a little bit too forward :) I've never wanted to use spurs before because I thought that the weird position might make me poke him continuously. Maybe it's one of those vicious circles... I do ride with a whip though! :p

Are you perhaps part penguin? :D

I do have a tendency to waddle, you could be on to something there? :D

No, I thought they were perfectly normal and pointing forward! :) Well I fall over all of the time too so you're not alone :p:D

I can do that with my legs  looks like he is being lazy and your digging your heels in to me, if so when he is more reactive to your leg it should sort its self out. Just watch out if you ever ride in spurs though.

I have one one of those too..

Join the club. It does look a bit like I was trying to bend him round my leg at the time but it's the same in every other stirruped photo :(

I'd advise some exercisesthat I do to strengthen my lower leg and ankle, but I think it might be best done by a physio. But if it's not bothering you then I guess it's just the way you're built.
