Many of you will know my cob baby, well ok he's not so little, but only 2.5 yrs old, has had a terrible panic attack re being in a stable, stood on the walls for 3 hours rearing and hurting himself! he could see the girls in their stables, but panicked so we put a grill up, which caused more claustrophobia, so the poor mite has been out in this hellish weather, anyway...:D
2 nights ago we tried him a not so sturdy but large stable where he can nearly touch the welshie pony next door and he walked in and said this is ok, fed up with the **** weather I will be a good boy.
Sunday night we were very stressed as he has no grill in this stable, but he was angelic and calm, and he stayed in again last night and it was windy and horrible and he was good again, seems we just had to find what was right for Freddie, a bigger stable and direct view of his mate was all it took :D
I am one VERY happy Devonshire dumpling, even if I am muddy and soggy! X
Have had to rug the tough nut too, as hes developed rain scald ..... grrrrrrr

Thats great to hear... another idea is to invest in a stable mirror... Someone I know did it with her weanling who didn't like being in on his own and he settled pretty much immediately...
 
So pleased to read of your progress, I am still concerned how my two will react if left in.

My yearlings were not happy in their separate stables when I wanted them in for short periods, they are so attached to each other, so asked OH to make a 'gossip' in partition wall and then put in bars, it has worked really well and stopped all panic! So now they come in for small feed, checking etc. for about an hour each day.

I have not yet had them in overnight, still in two minds, hoping for a mild winter - but if there is a blizzard with snow horrizontal I will then try to keep them in over night for duration of worst weather, and as they are at home keep checking them.
 
Don't talk to me about stable mirrors lol!! Yes Freddie did have one, well remembered!! This was the start of his rearing and anxiety, we thought he was playing with it, but his behaviour carried on and got progressively worse, he was fine in his stable before the mirror. All ancient history now tho :-) X
