He's been so chilled, the TB has had a mini meltdown, tarting and so excited, he went into his new paddock and started grazing lol... she keeps squealing and offering herself and he is completely ignoring her .... Long may it last!! XX

Oh my I am in LOVE!

As its my birthday tomorrow I think you should give him to me please :p Thanks!

Only two? He's gonna be erm... small  x

Has he been unwell? He's very square and short coupled, gonna be fab to ride!

No a very kind lady got him from the horse sales in a sorry state and his trust for humans was non existent, she had him gelded and de-liced, wormed etc, and popped him into a field to chill, eat and grow, with her 2 other babies... She asked us if we wanted him and it took my husband weeks and weeks to touch him, and only then did he present his offside, he managed to slip a cob sized headcollar over his nose and it wouldnt do up!!!! So we bought a full sized headcollar, inexperienced of us, but we thought he would be fine, but no it was a new day and he bolted when tried to put new headcollar on him, we then spent a week or so trying to trick him into having it on, ie popping headcollar in a feed bucket, all this did was destroy the little trust we had even more!!!! We learnt so much with this little boy!
My husband went back to the start and they had join up in the field, only problem was there was always 2 other youngters bolting around and playing stallions etc with him, so wasn't ideal, but gradually with a lead rope he accepted a makeshift headcollar :-),then one day he allowed a conventional headcollar to be done up around his neck and slowly done up around his nose.
Then we weren't allowed near him again for 2 weeks... it had taken us 3 months to get a head collar on him, it was April now!

Suddenly one day he allowed my other half to put a rope halter ontop of his nylon halter and we tried leading him a couple steps, this resulted in hit and miss really, if his friends got excited he would rear and turn and take the leadrope with him, but gradually we can lead a bit around the field, he then let my husband touch both sides, and be groomed a little, even lets him pick his front feet up a little bit:D

May was hit and miss, you would have good dads and bad days, but he was never nasty, he would turn his bottom on my husband sometimes and where I would have been gone like a shot my husband just scratched his bum and said ohhh how lovely a nice big bum!! and the horse would put his ears back and walk off miffed (my husband is still the only person to have handled him )

Anyway last week OH held him while i walked into the field, he snorted and huffed, but allowed me to approach and took an extra strong mint off me, I retreated and them came back and had a little stroke on his neck, i felt so honoured that her allowed me to touch him, he was beginning to really trust my husband.
Friday my husband lead him into the field barn and he snorted and was unhappy but stayed in there and walked out, he then took him in again and a car shot down the drive and he bolted out of the barn but waited for my husband outside with leadrope dangling, we were VERY worried about moving him on Sunday!
Moving day arrives and my OH walks into field and gives him 5ml of Sedalin and we left him for 90 mins, came back and he looked a little doped, anyway drove the car and trailer and reversed into barn where we lead him and his best friend into barn, were lots of snorts and he bolted into the barn, but we tooks it sooo slowly and didn't try to herd him at all, walked him up to the ramp and my oh stepped on and asked him to follow and he put 1 leg on, then another and snorted but just stood there, slowly and surely he walked on and we put the ramp up and shut top doors too, so my husband was trapped in there with him for a min as we had to pull trailer forwards to shut one of the top doors, and he just talked to him and he didn't move, out slipped my oh and we drove him 11 miles without him moving, unloaded him and he just stood snorting, but didn't try to bolt from my husband, i suppose everything else was strange and my husband was his best bet:) We popped him into the field and brought the TB mare up as didn't think it was best to leave a baby alone,as no neighbouring fields, she trotted around and acted like a total tart and he just grazed :-)

All in all it was a very emotional day, we had him in jan and up until May the downs were so low, but my goodness what a bond they are going to have :-)

It's very sweet when you hear my oh talking to him about how they are going to jump fences and go hunting, soppy or what!!!!!!!!!

What a lovely story it made me quite emotional. I bet your OH is over the moon after all his hard work and how lovely to build up that kind of bond from the start they are going to be an awesome partnership when Freddie is old enough to ride :)
