Had to share this with like minded horsey people.
After 7 weeks cross tying my poor boy hes allowed to be free for a months 'normal' box rest as from tomorrow. Needed to put a thicker bed down as a precaution in case he slipped getting giddy and the shavings delivery didnt come today as expected so one more night of torture and thats it!!! Im so happy. Got to increase the walking which will be fun but at least if he's on his toes his leg is now much stronger.
Theres a chip of bone that may need removing but its over his carpal sheath so vet is wary of taking it out so when he is trotted up in about 3 weeks time if he is sound I think we are leaving it in otherwise it may have to come out. God trot.... I never thought he'd walk again never mind trotting after finding him that night on 3 legs.
Sorry for the waffle just so happy things are finally going our way. Touch wood a million times.

Good news!

I told you he'd get there OK. I know it's hard watching them, but horses do seem to realise when something is wrong and you are making good progress. Lucky it happened in the grotty months. Keeping my fingers crossed for an uneventful and successful next stage.

Thanks for sharing this as I have wondered about him.

All the best x

Clyde,my 17 year old cob, suffered the most appalling injury November, 2005. He was found in his field with his off hind leg actually turned the wrong way round! Thought it was hopeless and he would have to be PTS. He spent months on box rest and then restricted grazing for ages. He is still unfit and flabby, but I can't describe my feelings when I called him the other day. He looked up, neighed and CANTERED up to me. I almost burst into tears! I know how you feel, but it gets better. Lots of positive thoughts for you and your boy

Thanks everyone. Walked him tonight and he was a nutter! apparnatly hes been naughty all day, squeeling and bronking on the spot anyway let him loose tonight and he rolled and rolled and bucked, my heart was in my mouth then he just stood there then sort of gob smacked.
Just hope hes ok and in one piece in the morning.
