Right....I have my own land,7 acres which i have managed on my own for 18 months ( very hard work!). I have 2 year old son which has made things quite tricky!! I've got 2 ponies and one horse that i ride. I've got planning through for 6 stables, tack room and feed room. We've managed to get 3 stables up and useable and the rest of building dry.
Anyhow, I'd really like some company up there, so was thinking about finishing off another stable and putting my feelers out for a livery, or really someone to help!! Do you think there's a market out there for someone who has little money but some time and would'nt mind giving me the odd hand with mine? They could have a stable and good grazing for free!!

If you were close to me I could give you a list of people who would jump at the chance so I think definately, although would warn you to get something written in contract form to state what help you will be expecting or you could find yourself housing someone elses horse and getting nothing in return.

i would say you would get a lot of interest if you advertised this sort of thing but you will have to work out who is genuine and who is not, i get part livery for the price of diy livery and in exchange i do give the YO alot of help in evenings as much as i can manage and if she's on holiday etc, you might be better with with that sort of arrangement?

Yes, but you need to get the right person who appreciates what you are offering and does not take the p***.

I did something similar (nominal livery fee of a fiver a week) but instead of getting help, I ended up having to do her horses as well!! I would suggest you write a list of the things you need help with and agree the days they are going to get done, otherwise you might end up with more trouble than its worth. Also, it might be better to have a small livery fee and proper contract drawn up, with a notice period just in case things do not work out.

I would jump at the chance of an offer like this and I'm sure plenty of others would to.

Just be careful who you take on, and as the poster above said, draw up a contract so they know exactly what's expected of them and treat it like a business relationship rather than a friendship; at least until you know they're trustworthy. Good luck

It is a great idea and you will get loads of people interested but as others have said be careful, we did the same thing as I was away for a while.
This girl was given free livery for her two horses for looking after ours in the evenings - the money she saved on livery she put towards several holidays - leaving OH to sort out the horses on his own (with full time job) and her horses
