Free Schooling...

HEY THERE,

I have a 2 year old Vanner and he is progressing really well. I am aware that lunging a young horse is not good because they aren't ready mentally and physically... So i was wondering, how does this stand with free schooling. I thought this might be different as they aren't going in a constant circle ect.

I think short periods of free schooling with a youngster are absolutely fine and probably loads of fun for them too. Not as demanding as lunging.

I don't see a problem as long as you have plenty of room to do it in - It's only going to be doing the same sort of speed and maneuvers that it would be doing in the field. It'll be good for bonding and getting to know each other.
