free to a good home or will be shot? doncaster

I should imagine the passport situation would be illegal. Poor mite hope one of the local charities can help

whats illegal?

I believe there has to be a longer period before a horse/pony can be disposed of in this way, an abandonment notice has to be served, although I stand to be corrected.

I would also hope that the 'professional body' that put this sign here would have taken the time to make sure their spelling was spot on too.

Petty? You may think so....when dealing with the life of an animal, I would expect someone to make some effort to spell correctly.

Not a dig at you OP! :D

shooting a horse cos you think it has been dumped, or removing it/giving it away because you think it has been dumped-there are prcedures you have to go through before even moving it to a different location let alone shooting it or giving it away.

i know it is unlikely but what if it is stolen microchipped and passported? has it been scanned?

Odd. I assume that's the owner of the field who has put that note on? This happened near us a couple of years back - a similar note was put on a gate when a group of horses were abandoned in a field. They were TB types though not typical 'gypsy' horses.
I can't really understand why the RSPCA would not be interested and at least speak with the owner of the field. That seems irresponsible of them doesn't it if it's not the owner of the person stating they are going to shoot it??

It's not far from me - I haven't seen it myself, but I'm told someone has taken it in. I'll try to find out a bit more tomorrow.

that would be great, I was hoping that that someone would come on and say that, thanks.

Agree it does all seem strange with a shoddy note taped to the fence but nothing would surprise me these days.

All I've managed to find out - and I'm assuming it's accurate - is that it has gone to someone who says they'll look after it. What the legal situation is I've no idea! The police weren't interested. Lots of flygrazing in that area. Presumably someone just got fed up with it!

I'd guess maybe angry land owner just put it up as a warning to get the pony removed hoping owners will 'pass by....Bit like some people have suggested on threads on here before. Could be a 'regular' occurance for lane owner.

I have clicked on the photo, but is there any way to make the image even bigger (computer numpty) i need to see if i recognise this pony!

Right click photo, open in new tab, bottom right of your screen there will be a magnifying glass with 100% there....click the little arrow and change it to a larger percentage :)

Are these kosher? A friend has just put a very similar ad on FB and when looked into, it appears the horse to be given away or shot by Friday if not rehomed is in Tasmania.

My cynical side says these are scams, although no idea what the motivation would be.

Something doesn't ring quite true with either this one or the other one I've seen.

FB is rife with baloney unfortunately.

I hope for the sake of the horses they are not true.
