I've got them. I like them as they do feel closer to the saddle and this helps a little bit with my leg stability.
I had to buy leathers anyway so it wasn't much of an additional expenditure - but I'm not sure I'd splash out if I already had leathers as they are not cheap!
They don't ruin the saddle but it's not possible to 'run up' stirrups in the normal way when the saddle is out of use and I'd say that's the main negative with them.
