I had my mare done by Farmkey. I was very pleased with it and the Farmkey lady was very good with my nervous mare who'd never been clipped before (they have to clip the area that is to be marked).

Was that with Farmykey? we live in the North of England so looking for good company. did you have to pay again if done twice? was it on same day or do they have to come back?

used Farmkey too and the lady was excellent. I had to feed him pony nuts by hand and we went round and round in tight circles with me leaning on his shoulder whilst she branded him. But he was good thats just what worked for us. Am sure it was sore afterwards but he had to have it redone as he is palamino/cremellish and TBH you can only see it in summer and I wouldnt and shouldnt have bothered getting him done as it didnt really work.

Not a good idea on light coloured but excellent on any other dark area. I would still get it done as it is a visual deterrent.

Mine are being done on Saturday by Freezemark. It's a very visible deterent to any would-be thieves but if your horse is rugless in the winter it's best to clip the mark so it doesn't "smudge" with the long hair. You can buy info' patches to put on rugs but I will be painting the mark on the rug. The operators' are very experienced with nervous horses IMO.
You might have to wait for a date as they try to do more than one in the area.

My horse has been microchipped and to deter thieves, he has a micromark on him in the shape of a horse shoe as approved by Farmkey

Yes Farmkey. The remark was done free of charge, and was done several weeks after the original as have to wait for hair to go white and area to heal (some can go scabby I believe though mine didn't), before it is redone.

Had mine done by Farmkey in September. Very pleased with the result and the lady who did it was great with my horse. Would definately recommend them.

Yes there is a yearly fee though I paid for several years as they offered a discount.

Farmkey have just been back to do one of my digits foc after 2 years as it was getting less clear over time. Highly recommend them. I like the look of the micromark and booked to have that done in the new year just to be indulgent.

p.s. the technician was telling me they’ve never had a micromarked horse reported stolen – can’t vouch for the accuracy of that and I wouldn’t have a clue about the volume of animals micromarked but it’s food for thought.

I had my 2 done by farmkey, they're both greys, and both chipped.

As they are grey, they needed the "bald mark" which means it has to be left on longer, I had the horseshoe mark done on my mare, who I thought would tolerate it, but my gelding was unlikely too, (and having watched my mare be done I made the right decision!) so as I was having him sedated, he had the full 4 digit freeze mark.

Glad I did, it although I need to clip over the marks in the winter to keep them visible.

As an aside, they're both arabs so thin skinned,
