freeze marking and long-reining advice

Hello, two quierries (sp?)

Which are the best freeze marking companies to use? Read a post about a company that did one for a horse and it did not heal, so a bit worried who to use.

Also, thinking of long-reining as something different to do with my boy, but have not done it before, so advice needed. Do i use two lunge lines, one either side, threaded back through the side rings on his roller?

Your advice would be appreciated! Thanks all!
 
Have it done on the shoulder if you can, then you can ride within a day or two. I used Farmkey, had no problems (had to have mine done under the saddle as she has white shoulders).
 
My horses were doen by Farmkey. The lady who came out (twice with my coloured mare as the first time it wasnt clear enough) was very patient and friendly.

As for long reining, I use a lunge line on either side, but dont use a roller, so I thread it through the stirrup irons! ....but Im no expert!
 
For long reining two lines on the bit run both through roller or irons if you use a saddle. to move them on a circle or turn bring the outside rein across behind so it sits half way between the hock and bum. To change the rein slow down tighten, the outside and loosen the inside and they should turn and go the other way. It is easier if they are good from voice aids as I am not co ordinated enough for a whip and two lines!
 
Would recommend Freezemark.biz over Farmkey any day. Personal Opinion though.
 
Yes I'm sorry my explanation is poo! So when you want to have them on a circle you are in the middle as normal for lunging but the outside rein runs along the body and comes behind under the bum. Then to turn you come slightly behind them and walk across behind the horse bringing in outside rein and letting out inside. You have to do it very slowly at first till they get the idea as if you were doing a turn on the forehand and they turn to change the rein. For straight lines you move along behind as if you are driving them. When you get really good you can do lateral work too.
This is not easy to explain if you get what I mean you are a genius!
